President Museveni flashes the NRM thumbs up sign on the campaign trail.

President Yoweri Museveni doesn’t think much of Kampala people. Anyway, Kampala, the capital city of the country is an opposition stronghold where the Head of State receives most criticism with people saying he has overstayed in power.

Museveni is on the campaign trail and he hopes to extend his 30 year rule for another five years. While campaigning in Kiwoko, Nakaseke, this Tuesday afternoon, the president promised to make the area, part of the Luwero triangle that was heart of the bush war that brought him to power in the early 80s an industrial town.

Museveni and First Lady Janet address the crowds.

He told the people of Nakaseke that there is not much to look forward to in Kampala because the town dwellers are either barbers or hawkers, yet industries in the area will provide youths with jobs.

“Bakinyozi bali Kampala, a batunda engoye bali Kampala (meaning that barbers and vendors who deal in second clothes are in Kampala,” Museveni told the rally.

“This is going to become a new town because we are going to build a town of factories only. Those asking where the jobs for the youth will come, electricity will attract factories. Factories will provide jobs for the youths,” he said.
