Photos: Celebrating the life of AK47

Singer AK47 passed away on Monday evening. At just 24, the singer had an eventful but short life, first coming into the limelight in as the little boy in big brother Jose Chameleone’s Dorotia video. We celebrate his life in pictures.

Even in primary school at Namilyango Junior Boys, AK47 had swagg. His older brother Jose Chameleone was already a star.

Boy to a man: Previously going by the name Hammertone, he changed his name to AK47 and branded himself the dancehall king, also forming his own Bullet Proof entertainment.
Family: Chameleone’s former manager Sam Mukasa, Chameleone, plus AK carrying Chameleone’s daughter. Sam was later to leave Leone Island with AK47.
AK47 was to leave Leone Island Crew and join Team No Sleep that was led by Chameleone and Goodlyfe former manager Jeff Kiwanuka. He joined his brother Pallaso who was with TNS.

While at TNS, Akay briefly came together with Bakri to form a singing duo which was disbanded after a few songs together.

AK grew froma boy to a man, fathering a son who is now two years old.

And then he became a salongo in November 2014, fathering a baby girl Nakato and Wasswa, a boy.
Pallaso, their mother, Mzee Mayanja their dad and AK47 on Women’s Day, just eight days before he passed away.
AK47 is gone but his music still lives on with us. Rest In Peace.
