Kizza Besigye and Winnie Byanyima’s son, Anselm Kizza, will be joining Columbia University for a fully-funded PhD program. The news was revealed by his mother, Byanyima, through her official X (formerly Twitter) account.

“With offers of a fully-funded PhD program from ⁦@UniofOxford⁩, ⁦@UofC⁩, and @Columbia⁩, ⁦@akbesigye⁩ has today accepted the offer from ⁦@Columbia⁩,” she posted. “Tough decision to say bye to beloved ⁦@UofC⁩ & turn down Oxford. All the best AKB. Proud Mum,” said Byanyima in a post.

Columbia University is a private university in New York City, United States. Established in 1754 as King’s College on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, it is the oldest institution of higher education in New York and the fifth-oldest in the United States.
