School donates food that had been stocked before COVID-19 to all parents and staff

As other schools are keeping the food they had stocked for students to be used when schools reopen at a date no one knows yet, a primary school in Sheema district has decided to donate all the food in their stores to parents and staff of the school.

Rwebiita Preparatory School in Sheema has decided to share the food that was stocked before COVID-19 hit and forced the government to close all schools and other institutions of learning. The food was shared amongst all parents that have children at the school, and staff members.

According to the school’s director Dr Mesharch Katusiimeh, who is also an Associate Professor at Kabale University, each parent has been was given 5kg of maize floor whereas each staff member walked away with 8kgs of the same.

“In a spirit of the school’s motto ‘Transparency and Accountability’, we shared with our parents and staff the food that had been stocked before the COVID-19 closure of schools. Each parent walked away with 5Kg of maize floor and 8kg for staff,” Katusiimeh said.

The donation was witnessed by Sheema District Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Kyerere Frank Besigye.

Well-done Rwebiita Preparatory School for that generosity.
