Open bars, we promise not to dance—Ykee Benda

With events on halt and bars still closed despite other sectors resuming business, the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president Ykee Benda has requested the government to allow the entertainment industry resume work.

Ykee Benda who was officially sworn in yesterday as the UMA president said that they are willing and ready to follow the SOP guidelines set by the Ministry of Health.

“Please re-open bars, we shall sanitize, wear masks and we promise not to dance. People will enjoy the music while seated,” Ykee Benda cried out to government.

Bars and events were put on halt since March as a measure to curb the spread of the Covid 19.

Despite adjusting to post covid with virtual events and TV battles, the entertainment industry is among the sectors that have been severely affected by Covid 19.
