At this point, people are more afraid of dying of hunger than the deadly coronavirus pandemic as the country enters into a 14-day total lockdown ordered by President Museveni last night.

Millions of people are out of work, out of money, and others out of food, and the hardest bit is that they can’t even go out to look for what to eat after closure of all other businesses save for those that deal in food items.

One man known as Brian Nandala has envisioned his demise to be caused by hunger so he has begged the Commissioner General of Prisons Dr Johnson Byabashaija to arrest him and keep him during the 14 days of the lockdown so that he can have some of that free prison food.

Why displaying the National Voters Register matters

“Dear Dr Byabashaija, I am a very good law-abiding citizen, I have never broken any law of the land but due to unavoidable circumstances, I want your people to arrest me and keep me for 14 days or else I will die of hunger,” Nandala wrote to Byabashaija on Twitter.

We don’t arrest. Contact Police to start the process. ?

Byabashaija was quick to tell him that the Prisons Service doesn’t arrest, and directed him to contact the Police for more.

Police Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye joined the conversation, saying that they can’t arrest him too except if he goes with a court order, and so referred him to private security companies.

Afande, we can’t arrest him too. Unless he comes with a certificate clearing him of #Covid19. He should also come with a court order. Otherwise, we are full. Let him try Private Security Companies like Securiko? https://t.co/nJOnSKQ3qu

As serious as this could be, we can’t help but see all the banter involved.
