65-year-old retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Sam Omara has died.
The news of his passing has been confirmed by Captain Mike Mukula, the owner of Arrow Security Systems Limited, a private security firm where Omara worked as the Deputy CEO and Director of Operations.
Omara passed away at Mulago Hospital, where he had been bedridden for months battling cancer.
According to Mukula, he breathed his last this morning at 7 a.m.
Since retiring from the police in 2020, the former Kampala North Police Operations Commander first lived a quiet life until he was unveiled as the Deputy CEO at Arrow Security Systems Limited.

Afande Omara is remembered for his battle-hardiness against Dr. Kizza Besigye and other opposition leaders during the 2011 Walk to Work protests.

The retired police officer said he sometimes regrets not taking the bribe because the government does not recognize and appreciate the efforts of officers who risked it all to serve the country.
