Mawokota North Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Kiyaga Hillary Innocent, also known as Dr. Hilderman, has said that despite his desire to retain his MP seat, he will not contest if the National Unity Platform (NUP), a party he subscribes to, does not give him a ticket to be its flagbearer.
Speaking in an interview on Sanyuka TV, Hilderman, who is reported to be at loggerheads with the party secretariat after he supported former Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga during the controversial Shs500 million ‘Service Award’ payment, said NUP means more to him than just holding a party card.
“If I don’t receive the NUP ticket, I will not contest. However, I will remain loyal to the party and continue to serve diligently,” said Dr. Hilderman.
He added, “While the card is important, my top priority is transforming our nation through my party.”
Hilderman further stated that he values NUP more than just holding a card.
“This is a generational movement, and I believe in the vision—we must build it together. Our mission is to drive change in this country, with or without the card,” he said.
Regarding his relationship with his party president, Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, Dr. Hilderman said that although Bobi Wine is a good listener, a section of people is feeding him false information to tarnish others’ reputations.
However, he said that he holds no grudge against Bobi Wine and that they are still on a mission to push out the current regime.
