Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has temporarily suspended all commuter and passenger train services along the Kampala–Mukono route following a track embankment failure at Namanve.
In a statement issued on Sunday, URC announced that the incident had compromised the structural integrity of the railway line, prompting a full suspension of operations from April 6 to April 14, 2025.
“This disruption affects all commuter and passenger train services operating along this section,” the statement noted.
URC added that its technical teams have been dispatched to the site and are working around the clock to assess the damage and carry out urgent repairs.
The corporation expressed its commitment to restoring services by April 14, assuring passengers that safety remains its top priority.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused and ask the public to bear with us during this time,” URC said, urging passengers for continued patience and understanding.
