Speke Resort and Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo joined the world to celebrate the Global Recycling Day, by showcasing their innovative approach of repurposing used glass bottles into useful items.
In a video shared on the resort’s official social media pages, they show the process of how the repurposing is done, right from the collection point, the cutting, till the final repurposed product.
The process shows employees collecting and transporting empty glass bottles to a recycling facility, where they are carefully cut, heated, and transformed into various products such as drinking glasses, flower vases, and decorative items. This initiative highlights the resort’s commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.
This year’s Global Recycling Day theme, “Breaking Barriers: A Revolutionary Blueprint for the Waste Management Crisis,” focused on addressing global challenges in recycling and waste management.
Recognized by the United Nations, the annual event, first celebrated on March 18, 2018, brings together individuals, organizations, and governments to promote sustainable recycling practices.
And as part of its commitment to excellence, Speke Resort is currently conducting a comprehensive hospitality training for its staff, that started on Monday.

The training focusses on enhancing key skills such as anticipatory service, effective problem-solving, and attention to detail—ensuring that the resort continues to uphold its reputation of delivering an exceptional guest experience.
