Buganda Road Magistrates’ Court, presided over by His Worship Ronald Kayiizi, has issued an international arrest warrant for Uganda Law Society President Isaac Ssemakadde.
The warrant follows a private prosecution case filed by Joshua Byamazima and Tonny Tumukunde, who accuse Ssemakadde of allegedly molesting the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Jane Frances Abodo. The specific details of the alleged offense, which falls under Section 115(3), remain undisclosed, but the provision generally addresses acts that violate the dignity and modesty of individuals, particularly women.
The complainants claim that Ssemakadde fled the country and deliberately ignored court proceedings, despite being served with an arrest warrant issued by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Ssemakadde, a popular legal figure known for his outspoken nature and frequent clashes with the judiciary, has been entangled in multiple legal disputes.
This latest development comes just weeks after the High Court found him guilty of contempt of court over social media attacks against Justice Musa Ssekaana.
In that ruling, Justice Ssekaana sentenced him to two years in prison, citing his persistent defamatory statements, public intimidation of judicial officers, and attempts to undermine judicial independence.
