A 34-year-old businessman, Peter Muzira, has been shot dead in a road ambush in Buwenge Town Council, Jinja District.
Muzira, a resident of Luzinga Central Village in Kamuli District, was traveling as a passenger on a boda boda when unknown gunmen attacked.
The incident occurred on Thursday at a swamp bordering Luzinga and Buwenge Town Council, where Muzira was accompanied by two others on the motorcycle.
According to police reports, the assailants, who were in a saloon car, ambushed the group and opened fire. Muzira was fatally shot in the chest and leg, dying instantly, while the attackers fled the scene.
Kiira Region Police spokesperson James Mubi confirmed the incident, noting that law enforcement is actively pursuing the gunmen.
In connection with the investigation, police have detained two individuals—the boda boda rider and a female passenger who was traveling with the deceased. Their identities have been withheld as inquiries continue.
