Years after their split, Blu 3—the legendary girl group consisting of Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru, and Lilian Mbabazi—has made another grand comeback, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.
Following their highly successful reunion concert in June 2024, the trio has now confirmed that they are back in the studio, working on an exciting new Extended Play (EP) set to drop soon.
During their appearance on Tusker Malt Conversessions, the singers shared their excitement about working together again on a more serious project. However, they cautioned fans not to expect music releases as frequently as before, as each member continues to pursue individual careers.
“It feels like nostalgia—going back to an era that I loved so much,” Jackie Chandiru admitted. “Back then, if I ever got tired and couldn’t sing, I knew the girls had my back. Now, it’s on a whole different level. It makes me happy knowing that even if something doesn’t go right, one of them will step in.”
Lilian Mbabazi said that Blu3’s legacy will always live on: “As long as we are alive, we are always going to be Blu3. Reuniting and performing together was just the first step.”
For Cindy Sanyu, being back with the group allows her to embrace a different artistic side: “Forget the money, the excitement, the glamour—being in this setting is refreshing. As Cindy, I don’t usually dress like this, but with Blu3, I get to do all this, and I love it. Last year, we didn’t know how things would go. We thought it was just going to be one show, and that would be it. But the more audiences see us, the more they love and demand more. We are still talking about it.”*
While an official release date for the EP remains under wraps, their return to the studio signals that Blu*3 is far from done. Fans can expect a fresh yet nostalgic sound as the trio blends their signature style with new influences.
