Maurice Ochol, a former senior parliamentary and political reporter at NTV Uganda, has achieved a remarkable milestone by being commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy. This branch of the U.S. armed forces plays a critical role in national defence, ensuring maritime security and supporting other military services across the globe.
In an interview, Ochol reflected on his journey and aspirations. As a child, he dreamt of becoming a pilot while attending Naguru Katale Primary School. His educational journey included Mora High School for O’Level and Kololo Senior Secondary School for A’Level.
After completing his secondary education, Ochol pursued higher learning at Cavendish University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Diplomatic Studies. He further honed his skills at UMCAT, obtaining a diploma in journalism.
Ochol’s career as a journalist, particularly his work as a parliamentary and political reporter at NTV Uganda, showcased his dedication to storytelling and public service. His transition from journalism to serving in the U.S. Navy demonstrates his commitment to contributing to society on a global scale.
