Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sam Omala, who is currently bedridden at Mulago Hospital, is asking anyone he wronged to forgive him.

According to his son, Mutukuvu Devine Omala, the retired battle-hardened officer is currently unable to speak well but asked him to publicly apologize on his behalf.

Mutukuvu revealed that the “Afande” was first taken to Nairobi, Kenya, as he had been battling cancer for some time.

“We took him to Nairobi when he could talk and walk. However, he collapsed while in Kenya. The doctors said his blood pressure was too low,” the son said.

After stabilizing him, the son said Omala requested to be returned home.

“We returned him in a wheelchair. A few days later, his condition deteriorated, and we rushed him to Mulago Hospital,” the son said.

He added, “The doctors conducted several tests on him and discovered that besides cancer, he also has issues with his kidneys.” Omala was admitted and has been bedridden for about two weeks at Mulago Hospital.

The former Kampala North Police Operations Commander, who retired from the police in 2020 after turning 60, is remembered for quelling opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye’s walk-to-work protests in 2011.

He was living a quiet life after retirement until he became Deputy CEO of Operations at Arrow Security Systems Limited, a private security company owned by Captain Mike Mukula, in 2023.
