The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the list of five finalists in each men’s category for the prestigious CAF Awards 2024.
The five players competing for the coveted title of African Player of the Year are Moroccan international and PSG right-back Achraf Hakimi, Ivory Coast’s Simon Adingra (Brighton & Hove Albion), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/), Ademola Lookman (Nigeria/Atalanta), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa/Mamelodi Sundowns).
In the Young Player of the Year category, Moroccan international Eliesse Ben Seghir, who plays for AS Monaco, is in the running alongside Karim Konaté (Ivory Coast/Salzburg), Oumar Diakité (Ivory Coast/Reims), Yankuba Minteh (Gambia/Brighton & Hove Albion), and Lamine Camara (Senegal/AS Monaco).
For the Club of the Year category, the list of five finalists includes Renaissance de Berkane, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, Egypt’s Al Ahly and Zamalek, and Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
The nominees for Goalkeeper of the Year are Andre Onana (Cameroon), Yahia Fofana (Ivory Coast), Mostafa Shobeir (Egypt), Stanley Nwabali (Nigeria), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa).
The prestigious CAF Awards 2024 ceremony will take place in Marrakech on December 16th.
Other announced categories include Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and National Team of the Year. The event, which celebrates excellence in African football, aims to honor outstanding performances in both club and national competitions, awarding the prestigious titles of African Player of the Year in both men’s and women’s categories.
The CAF Awards 2024 cover the period from January 2024 to October 2024.
