Bugweri Woman MP and Afrigo Band singer Rachael Magoola has urged the police to arrest artists who dress indecently, saying they are contributing to the moral decay of the younger generation.

Magoola, famous for her song Obangaina, said it is important for Uganda to preserve its cultural values, especially for the youth.

According to Magoola, indecent dressing among public figures is a misleading influence on Ugandan youth.

“Musicians now perform in outfits that reveal almost everything, and this has become acceptable,” Magoola said during a breakfast meeting at Kampala’s Fairway Hotel, which focused on combating child sexual violence.

She added, “Police should intervene and arrest those who dress indecently because young people, particularly girls and even some adults, are copying these trends. How can a parent encourage their child to dress decently if they themselves wear whatever they want?”

Magoola called for a return to traditional values, hoping this would help preserve Uganda’s social norms, which she believes are being eroded by modern influences.
