Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo has earned a nomination for Men’s Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year in the 2024 World Athletics Awards.
Kiplimo, who won the World Cross Country Championships gold in Belgrade, Serbia, and the Valencia 10km race, will compete with four other outdoor runners for the award. These include Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha, Kenya’s Benson Kipruto, Ecuador’s Brian Daniel Pintado, and Ethiopia’s Tamirat Tola.
Yomif Kejelcha holds the world half marathon record and world 10km lead. Kenya’s Benson Kipruto is the Tokyo Marathon winner and Olympic marathon bronze medalist.
Brian Daniel Pintado from Ecuador is the Olympic 20km race walk champion and Olympic marathon race walk mixed relay silver medalist. Tamirat Tola from Ethiopia is the Olympic marathon champion and holds an Olympic record.
Voting to determine the Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year finalists is now open on World Athletics’ social media platforms and will close on November 3.
