Police at Kitintale Station have arrested Mugume Langton, a 23-year-old resident of Namugongo, for impersonating a police officer in an attempt to rescue his detained friend.
Mugume was apprehended on October 23, 2024, after falsely claiming to be an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) with the Crime Intelligence Directorate. He was also found in possession of a toy pistol.
According to police, he had come to the station to inquire about a suspect detained in connection with a motorcycle theft.
Officers at the station questioned him, leading to his arrest. He will face charges of impersonation.
“He is currently being held for further investigation to determine if he’s linked to other crimes and to uncover his motives,” the police stated.
