Two dead as fuel truck crashes into Fuso Fighter on Masaka-Mbarara Highway

Two people have been confirmed dead following a crash between two trucks at Kasagirwa along the Masaka-Mbarara Highway. The accident, which occurred around 4 a.m., involved a fuel truck with registration numbers KCL 438X/ZF 7093 and a Fuso Fighter with registration number UBK 576N.

According to preliminary reports, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz trailer lost control, resulting in a head-on collision with the oncoming Fuso Fighter.

The driver and co-driver of the Fuso Fighter succumbed to their injuries instantly.

Police say an investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched.

The accident comes barely a week after a fuel truck lost control, overturned, and caught fire in Kigoogwa, Wakiso district. Sixteen people were killed in that incident, five are in critical condition, and nine are in stable condition.
