In its continuing bid to make students ready for work when they graduate, Victoria University held Career Readiness and Employability Workshop in conjunction with Standard Chartered Bank on Wednesday.
The team from Standard Chartered headlined a panel discussion addressed by Hillary Ndugutse the Head of Human Resource, Margaret Kigozi the Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing and Paul Sefa-Badu the Head of Wealth & Retail Banking.
Badu discussed how he transitioned from university to his first job, the most common mistakes new graduates make when entering the workplace, some common challenges that professionals face in their early careers and how they can overcome them.
He also shared how he faced a career setback and how he navigated through it, plus experience working in various markets and how someone can be positioned for an international career!
“I was impressed with the students ‘ passion and drive to join the work force and I hope that our discussions will help them to be more prepared and excited about the future,” Kigozi commented.
Stanchart had about 20 staff present and they engaged students in a “Mentors’ Den” directly talking to students who were interested in their career fields.
Vitoria University continues to live up to its mantra of being a modern university. They are currently enrolling students for the November intake.
