Police arrests student who has been kidnapping children in Kiboga and demanding ransom

Police in Kiboga District have arrested a man who has been behind kidnappings in the district.

Bukenya Rashid, a 25-year-old nursing student, was arrested on October 16, 2024, by security operatives. He is linked to multiple kidnappings in the district.

According to the police, during interrogation, he admitted to participating in two kidnappings on October 5 and 12, involving a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old, respectively. Both children were rescued alive.

He reportedly told the officers that he demanded ransoms of Shs300,000 and Shs400,000.

The suspect is currently detained at Kiboga Central Police Station as police prepare to arraign him in court.

“We continue to urge parents to remain vigilant regarding their children’s safety,” said the police.
