Manchester United and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana has promised to return to Uganda for the third time, but this time, it will not be for football.
Instead, Onana plans to visit the Pearl of Africa for a summer holiday after receiving overwhelming love from Ugandan fans during his previous visits.
Onana first came to Uganda last month when his national team, Cameroon, faced Zimbabwe at Namboole Stadium. The game attracted hundreds of spectators, and Onana was astounded by the warm reception he received from Ugandan fans, who cheered for him passionately. His performance that day was stellar, but what left a lasting impression on him was the warmth and love shown by the Ugandan people.
“I was amazed at how much love I received here. It was truly a special moment for me,” Onana remarked during that visit.
On Sunday, Onana made his second trip to Uganda as Cameroon was set to play against Kenya on Monday at Namboole Stadium. However, the game was played behind closed doors. Despite this, Onana’s presence in Uganda did not go unnoticed.
A crowd of eager fans gathered at Entebbe International Airport, hoping to catch a glimpse of the goalkeeper.
Onana was once again moved by the outpouring of love, and during this visit, he made a heartwarming promise to return, not for football, but to experience more of Uganda’s beauty and hospitality during his vacation.
“Hopefully, I will come back and spend more time in Uganda this summer!” Onana said during an interview after their game against Kenya.
