Top Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) positions—Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director of Public Health—are now open for applications.
This follows the dismissal of Dorothy Kisaka, who served as the Executive Director, her deputy, Engineer David Luyimbazi, and Dr. Daniel Okello, the Director of Public Health, by President Yoweri Museveni. The trio was sacked over the Kiteezi Landfill collapse that left 35 people dead and several others missing.
In a statement issued by State House, Museveni directed the Public Service Commission to advertise the positions of Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and Director of Public Health, with the goal of appointing new officials within three months.
However, to ensure continuity of work at KCCA, the Minister for Kampala was tasked with advising the President on interim appointments for these crucial positions to ensure that operations at KCCA continue without disruption until permanent replacements are in place.
Kisaka was appointed KCCA Executive Director on June 12, 2020. She replaced Jennifer Musisi, the founding Executive Director of KCCA, who resigned on December 15, 2018.
Prior to her role at KCCA, Kisaka served as the Executive Director at Destiny Consult from March 2001 until December 2014. Destiny Consult is a leadership school co-founded by Kisaka in 2001.
From October 2010 until December 2014, Kisaka also served as a commissioner at the Electoral Commission of Uganda. She was later appointed as a Presidential Advisor and subsequently a Senior Presidential Advisor.
