The JKL Lady Dolphins will face the UCU Lady Canons today at the Lugogo Indoor Arena in Game 6 of the Women’s National Basketball League finals. In a game which tips off at 7pm, a victory for JKL will crown them champions for the second consecutive time.

The Dolphins have taken control of the series, winning three consecutive games after losing the first two, putting them on the verge of a second straight National Basketball League title in the Women’s division.

In Game 5, the JKL Lady Dolphins secured a commanding 62-51 victory over the UCU Lady Canons, turning the best-of-seven series around. The nine-point win came after the Dolphins had initially trailed 2-0 following Game 2, but their resilience has put them within touching distance of the championship.

To seal the title tonight, JKL will once again look to their standout performer Jane Asinde, who contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds in Game 5. She will be supported by teammates Rita Imanishimwe and Brenda Ekone, who chipped in 11 and 10 points respectively in the same game.

For the UCU Lady Canons, this game is a must-win if they are to keep their title hopes alive. Having lost last year’s final to JKL, the Mukono-based team faces the daunting task of leveling the series in what promises to be a do-or-die encounter.
