First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga, who also serves as the Kamuli District Woman MP, has claimed that there have been attempts on her life. Kadaga made the revelation during her annual giveback event for the elderly, a forum where she offers support and listens to their concerns.
Without naming those responsible, Kadaga described two specific plots targeting her. In the first, she said a meeting was arranged with a group of sugarcane farmers, who were allegedly instructed to crash their heavily loaded trucks into her convoy along the Jinja-Kamuli highway, staging her death as a road accident.
In the second plot, Kadaga said fake money dealers were hired in Buwagi Trading Center, also along the Jinja-Kamuli highway. Their task was to incite chaos and create a scene where they could assassinate her under the guise of an attack by unruly youth. She further disclosed that the conspirators had been paid a down payment of 15 million shillings, but the plan was leaked before it could be carried out.
Commenting on the matter, Busoga North Police Spokesperson Michael Kasadha stated that they can only act if Kadaga files an official complaint.
