The 9th season of the prestigious Chaapa League, proudly sponsored by Guinness, is set to climax on Saturday, 21st September 2024, with a grand finale at the NEC playground (Coffee Grounds) in Bugolobi, Kampala.
The Chaapa League, an annual alumni football event for Mbarara High School Old Boys, brings together over 30 teams competing for glory and unity.
At a press conference held this morning at the Oak Hall, Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, Jacob Kabigumira, the Chairman of the Chaapa League, shared exciting details about the season’s finale.
He proudly announced that Rwizi, the Class of 2015 team, will officially be crowned champions of Season 9, dethroning last season’s victors, Chwezi. Rwizi’s dominance throughout the season has been a remarkable journey of teamwork and determination.
In addition to crowning the league champions, the event will feature the Bulls Tournament, a thrilling competition where eight teams (Chogm FC, Dingswayo, Yobo Yobo, Msamiati, Kaatara, Mutakoha, 99 Dynamos, and Karasande) will battle for supremacy in the second edition of this tournament. Each team will showcase a lady player, reflecting the league’s inclusivity and its growing commitment to women’s participation in sports.
Kabigumira extended an open invitation to the public saying, “I invite our League partners, old boys, fans, family and friends to join us on the 21st of September at the NEC Grounds in Bugolobi as we climax Season 9 in a spectacular way. We shall also be recognising the best performers and individuals/companies/teams who have dedicated their invaluable service and contributed to the growth and development of the league.”
The grand finale promises a full day of exciting activities, including the recognition of top performers, such as the Top Scorer, MVP, and Best Goalkeeper, with winners set to receive customised medals and accolades.
Rwizi will take home the coveted championship shield and gold medals, while the Bulls Tournament champions will be rewarded with a trophy and medals.
