The Cranes maximized the home advantage this evening, playing with desire and purpose in the 2025 AFCON Qualifier game that kicked off at 7 p.m.
Paul Put’s side was on the front foot for much of the opening minutes. Their pressure was rewarded in the 21st minute when the left-back struck a shot into the back of the net to give the Cranes the lead. Whether he intended it or not will be a discussion for another day.
The team maintained the lead throughout the first half. After the break, the game seemed slow as both sides played conservatively.
In the last 10 minutes, substitutes Allan Okello and Jude Ssebugabi combined excellently to double the Cranes’ lead.
Uganda now leads Group K with four points, Congo has three points, South Africa is third with one point, while South Sudan is at the bottom with no points. South Sudan hosts South Africa tomorrow.
