The Ugandan side suffered a 3-2 loss in the second leg, mirroring the scoreline from the first leg. Mohamed Salim put the Libyan team ahead in the first half, before Hemeya Tany’s brace in the second half sealed the win.
Titus Ssematimba and Denis Omedi scored Kitara’s two goals. Al Hilal Benghazi advanced to the second preliminary round, where they’ll face Egypt’s Al Masry. Kitara will now focus on the domestic season, set to kick off in September.
Meanwhile, Sports Club Villa, another Ugandan representative, faces an uphill task in their CAF Champions League qualifier against Ethiopian side CBE today at 3 pm.
Villa trails 1-2 from the first leg at Namboole Stadium and must win by two goals to progress to the next round.
