20-time Grammy Award winner Kirk Franklin and popular gospel group Maverick City Music are in Uganda for the Kingdom World Tour event slated for today, Friday, 16 August, at Makerere University Sports Ground. The event is part of their ongoing Kingdom World Tour, covering several countries in Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Franklin and Maverick City Music arrived in Uganda on Tuesday and have engaged in several activities leading up to the highly anticipated event at Makerere University Sports Ground.
“We believe God will move mightily through this tour and the lives of those attending,” said Maverick City Music in one of the interviews.
According to the organizers, the Kingdom World Tour in Uganda is going to be a worship experience designed to connect multitudes of worshippers and gospel music enthusiasts with God through powerful and soul-stirring performances.
Attendees can look forward to experiencing Kirk Franklin’s performances. The popular singer launched into gospel music in the early ’90s by first joining his hometown church choir, where he became music director at only 11 years of age. With a career spanning over 30 years, Franklin is widely credited with helping to shape modern gospel music.
As for Maverick City Music, they have garnered widespread acclaim for their innovative approach to worship music, blending contemporary sounds with traditional gospel elements. The group is one of the gospel bands that have lifted the banner over the past few years.
Their “Kingdom One Deluxe” album with Kirk Franklin is the project that ‘gave birth’ to the Kingdom Tours.
The American gospel stars will be joined by a long lineup of Ugandan gospel acts led by Coopy Bly. The Silver ticket goes for Shs50,000, the Gold ticket is Shs150,000, while the Platinum ticket is Shs250,000.
