Singer Fik Fameica has opened up about his failed collaboration project with Nigerian singer Wizkid, saying the singer’s management asked for a lot of money as funding for the project.
Speaking during an interview on a local YouTube channel, Fameica explained that when Wizkid came to perform in Kampala in 2017, he was so impressed by his work that he proposed a music collaboration, which he agreed to.
However, when he contacted Wizkid’s management to inquire about how they would progress with the project, they told him that he was the one to fund the project.
“They told me that I have to have about $100k (about Shs373 million) to be able to run the project,” Fameica said, adding that the budget was too high for him and he decided to give up.
Nonetheless, the singer is still hopeful that he will one day get another chance to work with Wizkid.
Meanwhile, Fameica has secured a collaboration with Nigerian artist Patoranking. The duo worked on a popular song titled “Omu Bwati.” Fameica credits Sheilah Gashumba for connecting him to Patoranking. The song, which amassed 1.7 million views on YouTube, was produced by Ghanaian producer Ctea On The Beat and Artin Pro.
Fameica revealed that he funded the audio production and the video, which was directed by Sasha Vybz.
