22-year-old man collapses and dies during UPDF recruitment drill

A 22-year-old man collapsed and died during a Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) recruitment drill. The incident occurred on Friday in Tororo District.

According to the UPDF, Abdallah Biija was undertaking the mandatory 4km run when he collapsed and lost consciousness. He was rushed to Tororo Hospital, but he died shortly after arrival.

The deceased had traveled to Tororo from Butaleja District for the recruitment exercise. Three days earlier, Levi Okwir from Dokolo District had also collapsed during the same 4km run but was saved by emergency medical services.
