Prosecution in the murder of businessman Henry Katanga presented two witnesses, both police officers, who gave testimony in the High Court regarding the death of the businessman.
The businessman was shot dead at his home in Mbuya on November 2, 2023. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Musede Samuel, attached to Jinja Road Police Division, testified that he received a call from Patricia Kakwanza, the daughter of the deceased and a friend, on November 2, 2023, at around 8 a.m., informing him of a suicide at their home.
He rushed to the scene and found Patricia, George Amanyire, a domestic worker, and Charles Otai, a nursing officer. He took control of the scene, where he found a pistol on the bed, a spent cartridge, a live bullet, and a lot of blood in the room, while the body was placed on a new 3-inch mattress.
The officer said that he communicated with his immediate boss at Bugolobi Police Station, who was already aware of the incident through Dr. Otai.
The trial will continue today, with the prosecution expected to call additional witnesses to testify.
Molly Katanga, the prime suspect in the death of her husband, is charged alongside her two daughters, Patricia Kankwanzi and Martha Nkwanzi, who are facing charges of destroying and tampering with valuable evidence that would have been used in the judicial trial to prove the murder of their father.
They are also charged alongside the family’s shamba boy, George Amanyire, and a nursing officer, Charles Otai.
