Former Liverpool and Brazil footballer Roberto Firmino has embarked on a new spiritual journey, co-founding an evangelical church in Maceio, Brazil, with his wife, Larissa Pereira.
According to Brazilian news outlet Globo, the ordination ceremony took place on June 30. The couple expressed their desire to share the love of Christ with others, stating, “Our encounter with Christ ignited a burning passion in our hearts, and we now feel responsible for spreading His love as pastors.”
This milestone follows Firmino’s public declaration of faith in 2020, when he was baptized. He then established Manah Church in Maceio the following year, proclaiming, “Jesus is love; believe and feel the Holy Spirit.”
After an impressive eight-year tenure at Liverpool, Firmino departed last year, leaving behind a legacy of 111 goals, 75 assists, and trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
He currently plays for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League, where he has scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 34 appearances.
