Police in Kabale have arrested three school staff members of Hornby High School Junior in Kabale Municipality after thieves broke into the computer room and stole 19 computers.
Geoffrey Ainebyoona, the school’s head teacher, reported that the computers, valued at Shs259 million, were stolen from the school’s computer laboratory in the early hours of July 6, 2024, around 3:00 a.m.
The computers were donated last November by Sense International Uganda and MTN Uganda to aid in educating visually impaired children.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident saying investigations are ongoing, with three suspects already in custody.
The suspects are Muhwezi Nicholas (a computer teacher), Mbabazi Michael (a casual staff member), and Tushabomwe Philip (a security guard).
He further said that the three have already recorded their statements, which will guide the investigations.
