A Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) truck has rammed into a four-roomed building in Kagoma, Wakiso district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, when the driver of the truck, with registration number H4DF 2945, who was coming from Kampala and heading to Bombo, lost control and veered off the road before crashing into the building.

Charles Mubiru Mutebi, the landlord and owner of one of the shops in the building, said he survived without injuries, but his electronics shop was destroyed.

Paddy Kakumba, the owner of the building, disclosed that he learned about the incident from one of the tenants. He explained that the truck massively damaged the building’s beam, causing cracks. He demanded that the UPDF compensate him, estimating the damages to cost over Shs200 million.

The UPDF spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, said that if they establish that they are at fault, they will compensate the owner.
