City lawyer Pius Kasana has been arrested alongside six others in connection with the shooting and injuring of Police Constable Pascal Musobozi.

The incident occurred three days ago when Nabbingo police responded to residents’ complaints about a noisy bar.

According to the police, Kasana, who allegedly owns the bar, incited drunken revelers against the police officers, warning them of dire consequences if they attempted to close the bar.

The police officers retreated to the station for more manpower, but upon their return to the bar, a bullet was fired from the crowd, injuring Musobozi. He was rushed to Cardinal Nsubuga Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Mulago Hospital for specialized medical attention.

The police returned to the area and made arrests after locals came forward with information implicating Kasana, who allegedly possesses a pistol that he has always used to threaten those who complain about the noise. The other people arrested include Raya Namiya, Sauda Nakimera, Teddy Kambada, Aisha Nakolola, Annet Kabasenyi, and Aisha Nalubega.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, revealed that five witnesses have already recorded statements with the police, contradicting Kasana’s denial of owning a gun.

The police are now working to recover the weapon and determine who pulled the trigger.
