Security guard Geoffrey, attached to G4S, a multinational private security company, has been lauded for his honesty after returning cash to a customer who had forgotten it at an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

The incident happened on Sunday at an Absa ATM in Kyanja. Michael Katagaya, the customer who had withdrawn and forgotten the cash, narrates on his X account that he transacted at the ATM but only picked up the card and drove away.

“I was exhausted and distracted. When I reached my destination, I realized I didn’t have the money and surely must have left it at the machine. I drove back and arrived after about 30 minutes,” says Katagaya.

Upon returning, he found the guard seated and waiting for him.

“He had picked up the money and badly wanted to give it to the owner! He handed me the money! He explained that no matter how little he earns, he has to be honest. I was humbled and grateful,” he says.

As a gesture of appreciation, he gave him a good tip from a portion of the money.

“That’s my hero! G4S, you have a great staff member in Geoffrey! There are few people like that left,” Katagaya concluded his narration.
