Police in Namisindwa are hunting for Fred Masika, the LC I chairperson of Bubutu TC cell, for allegedly orchestrating the robbery of a total of Shs 10 million from two shops in the area.
The chairperson is reported to have led gunmen who raided a shop belonging to Kibeti Mutuma, from which they stole Shs 7 million, before proceeding to rob another shop belonging to Paulo Manawa of Shs 3 million.
After the robberies, police launched a manhunt for the gunmen with a sniffer dog, which led them to the chairperson’s house. He was not found at home at the time, but the police accessed the house and discovered housebreaking equipment.
The chairperson is said to be currently on the run, but the police have vowed to pursue him and the gunmen.
