Fred Kajoba, the former Uganda Cranes goalkeeping coach, has passed away. Reports indicate that Kajoba, who formerly coached Vipers Sports Club and currently served as a goalkeeping coach at Ihefu FC in Tanzania, first felt unwell on Sunday and sought medical attention at a hospital.
However, he experienced another health setback and asked his colleague Matia Lule, who is the head coach of Ihefu FC, to accompany him to the hospital.
Matia reportedly left Kajoba at the hospital while he underwent various medical tests.
Unfortunately, Kajoba was pronounced dead hours later. The local football governing body, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), confirmed the news in a statement, expressing their sadness: “FUFA is saddened to learn about the untimely demise of former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba Kisitu that occurred today in Tanzania. FUFA extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, his club Ihefu FC, and the entire football fraternity. Football will dearly miss Coach Kajoba.”
Kajoba was part of the technical team that guided Uganda Cranes to the 2017 and 2019 AFCON finals.
Rest in Peace, Coach Fred Kajoba.
