In a bid to address the critical shortage of blood supplies in Uganda, the Nepali community, under the auspices of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) of Uganda, is gearing up for a blood donation drive. Spearheaded by the Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the initiative aims to rally the general public in contributing to this life-saving cause.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, April 28th, 2024, will take place at Kampala Parents’ School. Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, in extending the invitation, emphasized the urgent need for blood donors to step forward and make a difference in saving lives. “Every drop of blood donated has the potential to be a lifeline for someone in need,” remarked Dr. Ruparelia.
The drive will be organised by the Nepali Association in collaboration with the Uganda Red Cross and Nakasero Blood Bank.
The initiative underscores the spirit of community and solidarity, transcending borders and cultures to address a pressing humanitarian need. As Uganda grapples with blood shortages, initiatives like these exemplify the power of collective action in making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
