A security guard working at one of Madhvani sugarcane plantations in Kakira, Jinja district, has been stabbed to death by a man he allegedly found having sex with his wife.
According to Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, James Mubi, the deceased identified as Denis Avaga returned from work at around 10 pm on Tuesday and purportedly overheard his wife screaming from their bedroom, which prompted him to kick the door.
When he gained entry, he reportedly found his wife, Agnes Agidru, aged 32, having sex with a man identified as Raphael Onzima, aged 26, a sugarcane cutter working with Kakira Sugar Limited and a resident of Mutai camp in Kakira Town Council.
A fight erupted between the two men, and Onzima allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Avaga in the chest, stomach, and arm.
The deep stabbing led to serious bleeding, and Avaga succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at Madhvani Hospital. The suspect is said to have run naked to Kakira CPS to save his life from being lynched by the angry community.
Police have also arrested three other suspects: Geoffrey Echoku, the neighbour who is said to have cheered on as the two men fought; Peter Ocheng, the landlord; and Pamela Ocheng, the landlord’s wife who allegedly cleaned the blood at the scene of the crime.
