Stand-up comedian Patrick ‘Salvado’ Idringi has stated that the comedy industry in Uganda lacks sufficient funds, making it impossible for any show organizer to meet his performance fees.
According to Salvado, comedy shows in Uganda generate little funds, hence it does not make business sense for any organizers to pay him the money he charges.
“No comedy show organizer can afford me in Uganda. I am not bragging, but my charges are too high for our organizers, so I have chosen to perform abroad,” Salvado remarked during an interview on Kasuku Live.
When pressed to disclose his performance fees, Salvado chose to remain secretive, stating, “Just know I charge very high fees, and when I perform abroad, organizers readily meet my demands.” He further emphasized, “The earnings from one show abroad surpass what some comedians here make after performing in over 10 shows.”
However, Salvado clarified that he occasionally performs at shows in Uganda without charging a fee, aiming to support his fellow comedians.
