TikTok honoured the best content makers in Africa at the 2023 Top Creator Awards. Vodacom NXT LVL supported this event. It happened at Vodacom World in Johannesburg. The event celebrated the creativity, new ideas, and hard work of TikTok’s community in Africa.
The awards not only showed great content in many areas but also showed TikTok’s promise to help content makers. TikTok gives them tools and chances to make money. This helps them follow their passions.
Bianca Sibiya, who manages TikTok’s content in Sub-Saharan Africa, said the awards are meant to encourage and help the next generation of talent. “The #TopCreator2023 awards let us see and celebrate our gifted content makers from all over Africa. We’re very proud of these creators. They make a big difference in their communities with their clever, fun, and interesting content. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees.”

The event showed many talents and different people, including performances by famous artists like Tyler ICU and Thozi Music. Dennis Ombachi, who won the TikTok Top Creator Overall Winner in 2022, also made a special appearance.
Ombachi, known as the Roaming Chef, is famous for his phrase ‘Chop tomato and onion, done.’ He used to play rugby but now focuses on cooking. He played for Kenya 7s at the 2016 Summer Olympics and also played at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia.
The teamwork between TikTok and Vodacom shows how they both want to help talent and give creators chances to earn money. This helps Africa’s digital economy grow.
