Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Travis Mutyaba has joined Egyptian giants Zamalek. Mutyaba, who arrived in Egypt on Tuesday, has penned a four-year contract with the Egyptian side.
The five-time CAF Champions League winners are reportedly gearing up to unveil the young talent in the coming days, marking a new chapter in Mutyaba’s professional journey.
Mutyaba has been out of competitive club football since the conclusion of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League season in June at SC Villa. Previous reports had suggested a potential move to the Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi after his tenure with Villa, but those speculations failed to materialize.
Before his stint with Villa, Mutyaba showcased his skills at various levels, starting with the Vipers Junior Team, featuring in the Futsal competition for Synergy, representing Bulemeezi in the Buganda Masaza Cup, and making an impact at Gombe High School.
Having progressed through different national team ranks, including the U17 and U20 squads, Mutyaba made his debut for the senior team, the Uganda Cranes, in 2021 at the young age of 16.
Mutyaba is set to join fellow compatriots such as Joseph Ochaya, Richard Basangwa, and Allan Kyambadde, who have also ventured into Egyptian football.
As the young midfielder embarks on this new chapter with Zamalek, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his contributions to the club’s success.
