Some things are hard to believe until you witness them yourself. A music video making rounds on social media features a deaf rapper from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

It’s not the video that is captivating but rather the artist in it, who is said to have hearing and speech disabilities. Despite his disability, MC Baba can rap.

It is reported that he started his music career in 2021. In the new video, MC Baba uses traditional rap beats combined with vocal sounds that do not form recognizable words. This technique has deeply resonated with audiences, generating thousands of views and shares across various social media platforms.

Local media in the DRC report that his path to fame has not been easy, as he has been involved in many freestyle battles, and he has somehow managed to stand out.

Initially, MC Baba was part of the duo “La Baseron” with Paterne Maestro. However, in 2023, he decided to focus on his solo career, launching his first major international hit, “Oko Lela Epa Ya Nani.” This song, which can be loosely translated as “Who will you cry for,” does not use words but a series of rhythmic sounds that convey deep emotions.

Many are now showing support for MC Baba, saying he has proved that disability is not a limitation but an opportunity to redefine art and expression.
