Family members arrested for beating Muslim daughter who attended church fellowship

Police have arrested a Muslim family filmed flogging a teenage relative for allegedly attending a church service.

The victim has been identified as Naula Shakira, aged 18, a resident of Bwase 1 village, Bugolya Parish, Kadama sub-county, Kibuku district, according to the Kibuku district police.

Police confirmed that the incident occurred after Shakira, known to be Muslim, attended a fellowship at the Kibuku Prayer Convention Church, led by Pastor Kitibwa Nichola.

On Monday, Police conducted an operation where they arrested seven suspects to assist in the investigation.

The arrested suspects are: Higenyi Jaberi, Nantege Yusufu, Wapesa Muhammad, Lumans Jaberi, Koosu Uthuman, Wasereye Issa, and Musenero Ziyadi.

All suspects are detained at Kibuku police station as the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

It has also been established that the victim lives with her aunt, Musenero Ziyadi, who is also a suspect because her biological mother is currently away in Saudi Arabia for work.
