Jacob Kiplimo survives car accident

Long-distance runner Jacob Kiplimo has survived an accident with minor injuries. The accident happened on Wednesday as he was traveling from Kapchorwa to Kween district.

Kiplimo’s double cabin vehicle is said to have veered off the road at Kamunerket Mengya Road before hitting the roadside trench.

Locals pulled him out of the car before also pulling his vehicle from the trench.

According to The New Vision, Kiplimo claimed to be well despite sustaining minor injuries but was taken to Kapchorwa town for proper treatment.

“I am grateful to God for shielding me. It could have been worse,” he said.

Kiplimo returned to Uganda earlier this week after successfully retaining his world cross-country title by winning the senior men’s championship at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

He was back to kick off his preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France, slated for July this year.
