“It’s been two months,” Pastor Bugingo questions why police haven’t arrested suspects in his attack where his bodyguard was killed

Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries has questioned why the police and other investigation security agencies have not yet arrested any suspects in an alleged assassination attempt against him, which happened on January 2, 2024, resulting in the death of his bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza.

While leading prayers at House of Prayer Ministries in Kikoni, Bugingo said that it has now been two months since the incident occurred, but he is saddened that the police are no longer providing any updates about the matter.

“I am requesting the police to at least inform us of the progress of the investigations. The area (Namungoona-Lubaga Division in Kampala) where we were attacked has a police camera,” Bugingo said.

In one of the police’s last updates about the matter, police spokesperson Fred Enanga revealed that their detectives had gathered crucial clues related to the weapons used and potential suspects.

He stated that forensic experts reported that the same pistol used in the shooting of Pastor Bugingo was also employed in the killing of blogger Isam Olaxes (Isma Tusubira) in May of the previous year near his home in Kyanja, Nakawa Division, Kampala.

Enanga also announced a 20-million-shilling bounty for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the shooting.
