President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter, Diana Museveni Kyaremera, has gone public about divorcing her husband, businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu.

Diana stated in a brief statement that the divorce officially occurred in 2022.

“I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children,” Diana wrote.

She added, “However, I feel the need to clarify now. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you all about my divorce… As you all know, divorce is a very difficult thing, especially when children are involved. I ask the public to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and to respect my privacy.”

In 2022, Diana applied to the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) to formally drop the use of her husband’s name, “Kamuntu”.

In a notice published in the Uganda Gazette in September 2022, Diana stated that from then on, she wants to be known as Diana Museveni Kyaremera.

Diana, President Museveni’s last born, tied the knot with Kamuntu on July 24, 2004. The couple has three children (one girl and two boys).
